چکیده

chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of cancer therapy. In most cases bone marrow suppression represents the doselimiting toxicity of these drugs. Druginduced DNA damage at the level of bone marrow progenitor cells results in a fall in circulating neutrophil count. Patients with neutropenia are at increased risk of infection and sepsis.1 The timing of neutropenia is generally predictable; it typically lasts over a 7–14 day period with the lowest point (nadir) usually around day 10. However, there are exceptions and all patients should be considered to be at risk of sepsis if they have received chemotherapy within the last 28 days. The risk is correlated with both the absolute neutrophil count and the duration of neutropenia: a low nadir (<500/mm3) and protracted duration (>10 days) are major risk factors for impending infection.1

Chemotherapy-induced neutropenia and febrile neutropenia in patients with gynecologic malignancy

Chemotherapy-induced neutropenia is a common complication in cancer treatment. In this study, we investigated chemotherapy-induced neutropenia that was recently detected in all patients with gynecologic malignancy. Between January 2009 and December 2011, we examined cases of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia reported in our hospital. We analyzed the incidence and clinical features of chemotherap...

Clinical study on safety and efficacy of JiSaiXin (recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor injection manufactured in China) for Chinese undergoing chemotherapy.

OBJECTIVES To assess safety and efficacy of JiSaiXin (Recombinant Human Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor Injection manufactured in China, G-CSF) 150ug per day for three days and whether this regimen could reduce the incidence of febrile neutropenia caused by chemotherapy. METHOD From July 2014 to December 2014 patients treated by chemotherapy in our hospital were randomly divided into tw...

Can we predict the duration of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in febrile neutropenic patients, focusing on regimen-specific risk factors? A retrospective analysis.

BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to elaborate a predictive model for the duration of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia (CIN) allowing the identification of patients with a higher risk of complications, especially complicated febrile neutropenia, who might benefit from preventive measures. PATIENTS AND METHODS A score ranging from 0 to 4 on the basis of expected CIN was attributed to each cy...

G-CSF in the prevention of febrile neutropenia in chemotherapy in breast cancer patients.

The most common chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of breast cancer are anthracyclines and taxanes. The major dose-limiting toxicities associated with these agents are myelosuppression and associated febrile neutropenia (FN). FN can significantly impact the ability to deliver full-dose chemotherapy on schedule and as a result may increase the risk of disease recurrence and eventual diseas...

Prognostic indicators predictive of chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropenia outcomes in adult cancer patients: a systematic review.

Review Questions: What are the prognostic indicators predictive of chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropenia outcomes (favourable and unfavourable) among adult cancer patients? Background: Febrile Neutropenia (FN) is a major complication for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.1 It is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Standard patient care includes prolonged hospitalizatio...
